Position Summary: Provides leadership, instruction and motivation for participants in swimming lessons. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere promoting member safety and engagement, youth development and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Essential Functions: Knows and understands all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately and appropriately, in accordance with YMCA standards, policies and procedures. Maintains all required certifications, in accordance with YMCA standards, policies and procedures. Conducts swim lessons, as assigned, in accordance with YMCA standards, policies and procedures. Develops swimming and water safety skills using effective organizational patterns, observation, instructional floatation devices and teaching techniques, adjusting for each participant’s developmental needs. Creates a positive student experience by providing effective feedback, celebrating success, and encouraging progress. Create a positive parent experience by providing a first day orientation, interacting before and after each lesson, giving constructive feedback and giving opportunities for at home learning. Requisitos

Minimum age of 16 years. Obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification in accordance with YMCA standards, policies and procedures. Current/or must obtain prior to first scheduled shift: ASHI certifications for: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen (Administration), Child Abuse Prevention Training, Information Security and Awareness, Workplace Harassment and Bullying, Universal Precautions, and New Staff Orientation Assessment. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, retain and teach safety rules, maintenance instructions and aquatics education manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
