Temporary Office Assistant - Fire Prevention Office (June-September)

This position offers a flexible, 20-40 hours per week schedule from June 8, 2026 thru September 8, 2026, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. An employee in this position is responsible for supporting office operations and must demonstrate a high level of customer service and professionalism when dealing with members of the community and other employees. Duties include: Answering phones, emails and filing. Entering data and scanning/creating and controlling all files. Contacting applications for information. Maintaining a list of pending permits Preparing Tent Inspection lists for Fire Marshal Inspections. Processes Burn Permits and Fireworks Permits. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment and clerical techniques; some knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; skill in typing accurately; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to learn assigned tasks and to adhere to prescribed departmental routines; ability to make arithmetical computations and tabulations accurately and with a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish effective wor

Requisitos

Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. Candidates must complete a civil service application for submission to and review by the Suffolk County Department of Human Resources, Personnel and Civil Service.
