General Description This is work of a specialized nature involving specific responsibility, under general supervision, for one or more aspects of library work. At the Central Library, this position includes direct supervision of non-public service departments, outreach work, and status as Assistant Division Head in public service divisions. In the Community Branch Libraries, the work involves general supervision in a branch library as designated supervisor of a branch which is administered by a Librarian IV (Quadrant Librarian). This position has the responsibility for carrying out or supervising policies, procedures, tasks, and assignments as directed by the supervising librarian. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate professional, paraprofessional, clerical, and volunteer personnel. Performs related work as required. Requisitos

Masters degree in Library Science from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department as following accepted education practices; AND Two (2) years of professional library experience subsequent to receiving the MLS. NOTE: Some universities have renamed their programs and no longer designate the degree as a Masters in Librarianship. Contact the New York State Library’s Division of Library Development for assistance. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian’s professional certificate at time of application. Possession of certificate at time of appointment.
