You will join the IT Department of the CERN, and be part of the Network Engineering group. The Network Engineering group is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of CERN’s high-performance network infrastructure. This includes the wired and wireless networks, fibre optic infrastructure, and all related services. Your main responsibilities will include: • Designing and implementing structured cabling systems and network infrastructure according to CERN’s standards and requirements. • Planning and executing network upgrades and extensions. • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues and performing root cause analysis. • Collaborating with other IT teams and end-users to understand their network needs and provide solutions. • Developing and maintaining network documentation, including diagrams and inventories. • Participating in the evaluation and selection of new network technologies and equipment. • Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations. • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the network infrastructure and services.

Requisitos

• Master’s degree or equivalent, or a first university degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. • A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the field of structured cabling systems and networks. • Proven experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for structured cabling (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC). • Familiarity with network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi). • Experience with network monitoring and management tools. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. • Fluency in English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
